XD9 XD3 VEGA ADVANCED LIVE PERFORMER XD SERIES Just when you thought you’d seen the best, the XD Series from KETRON creeps up! These products will satisfy those who wish to be instantaneously surrounded by music without all the excessive ‘button pushing’ usually associated with many keyboards. It is the un-paralleled sounds, rhythms and features that make the XD Series the perfect tool for Professional Musicians of all ages who are inspired to take music to a whole new level of recording, entertainment and best of all fun. We truly believe with KETRON XD Series, we did it… again.   SOUNDS With KETRON’s exclusive sound research and development, the XD9, XD3 and VEGA deploys 24 MB of PCM ROM used to generate over 200 realistic and stunning voices. Extra-long sampling time together with different layers of samples have been used to re-create the striking realism of each instrument. Each category or group is then displayed on the easy-to-read screen from which the user can easily select which style or sound they want to use for a performance. Not enough sounds on board? No problem. With the internal 8 MB Flash RAM expansion slot (optional – pre-loaded with sounds or empty) the sound choice can be strongly enlarged. Features such as 2nd Voice and Programs enhance the total sound control and ensure user friendliness during performances. The One Touch settings, programmable and assignable to each Style, instantly recalls 10 of your favorite sounds every time you select a new style… again emphasis on the ease of use during live performances.   STYLES & ARRANGER The styles found on the XD9, XD3 and VEGA are like no other, thanks to the 50 special Live Drums (Drum 2) used in association with most styles. These live drums are samples of live performances from either music or recorded in the studio during real performances. Just try the power of the new Dance and Hip Hop Styles and the delicacy of Swing and Latin. The user can also access the 24 Drum Set and the 24 User Drum Sets of the XD Series for creating new styles all together. The drum loops have been perfectly synchronized to the styles within the arranger and no matter what tempo the accompaniment is set to, these rhythm patterns follow along flawlessly with no change in pitch or tone! With over 170 Styles on board (with re-writable parameters) and room for 50 Patterns (with optional 2 MB expansion unit), a lot of effort has been taken to ensure that no musical genre is left behind.   The XD Series products offers on board 24 bonus Patterns, featuring additional Country, Latin, German and Scottish styles and new typical Caribbean/African styles like Soca, Zouk and Makossa. KETRON has taken the concept of the Automatic Accompaniment to new heights once more by introducing the new Interactive Arranger & Brass into a keyboard of this class. With this function activated, the user can determine different components of the Arranger (e.g. chords 2, 3 and 4 as well as the entire Brass section) that will be ‘muted’ while he is playing lead parts to the right of the split point of the keyboard. The Pianist and the new Bassist function, the last one acclaimed from most advanced musicians, enhance the live performance to an higher level than usual.   MIDIFILE PLAYER The XD Series perfectly plays back midifiles of type 0 or 1 (converting between both) and displays lyrics when associated Karaoke or text files exist. With the Intelligent Transposer turned on, transposing a song (no matter what key) ensures that the sounds within all used tracks are always reproduced in their natural range and re-arranged within the original octave of the song. With the optional HD installed, the XD9, XD3 and VEGA can instantaneously playback songs from any of the folders within the HD. The original XD Series Hard Disk includes 200 songs, more than 200 styles and up to 128 style registrations. The new Drum Remix feature provides a new enhancement to the playback of midifiles, yet to be experienced on arranger keyboards! This feature allows the user to replace the current drum tracks within a midifile with those Live Drum loops found in the  XD9. This means that you can now operate and control ‘live’ rhythms as you play a midifile, thus enhancing the quality of your songs while at the same time really entertaining your audience (and yourself ) as you ‘control’ your own midifiles.   REGISTRATIONS Up to 198 Registrations locations are provided in memory where the settings of the keyboard within any given time are captured and stored for future use. With this feature, there is no need to remember the exact settings used for specific performances – only the registration number. Once this number is entered, the XD9, XD3 and VEGA resets the keyboard (panel and internal settings) to all the values that were stored within the selected Register – a very handy tool for those that want to go from one song to another with minimum delay time!    SOUND REPRODUCTION The XD9 and VEGA keyboards in-corporates a powerful 22W RMS per channel stereo amplifier that drives 4 speakers well located before the user to deliver sounds which are crisp, spacious, well detailed and well balanced. Included within this package is also a Bass Boost enhancer unit that delivers those lower notes that would otherwise go unnoticed.   COMPUTER INTERFACE and SOFTWARE Using the software found on KETRON’s website (www.ketron.it), it is possible to back up and manage all contents of the optional HD of the XD Series onto the HD of a PC/Mac computer. This software (also used by the X-series and KETRON’s current flag ship – the SD1) enables transfer of files from/to the HD of the XD9, XD3 and VEGA to/from the HD of your computer. This way, you can easily manage all files (MIDI files, Sound files, User files, Pattern files etc). Since the entire Operating System of the XD Series products resides in Flash memory, it can be updated with new OS releases found on the website as well. This ensures that the instrument can constantly be renovated with some new ideas and features as may be requested by our customers.

COMPARING KETRON SD3 vs XD3

1. SOUNDS:- Most of the sounds of the SD3 are new and in some cases even better than the sounds of the flagship SD1Plus (such as guitars, violin, piano, strings, sax). More realism has been added especially to guitars which now have fret noise, strumming … etc. When used with the styles, they are even more realistic than before.

2. STYLES:- The new styles take use of the new voices. You now have a lot of bass slides and guitar strums and noises within a style making them more realistic. Most styles are now 16 or (as in the case of some RIFFs) 32 measures long, making them less redundant and more realistic.

3. FEATURES:- A lot of new features have been included with the SD2 making music performance and creation more fun such as

a. Multi-tab buttons. Can be assigned to various functions OR used to call up registrations (whose names can now be displayed at the center of the screen).

b. Fill to Arranger. A user can now press any of the Arrangement tabs, and the SD3 will automatically insert a fill before going to the next arrangement.

c. RIFF. Unit now plays back complex chord progressions based on the style selected and the style of play.

d. After Fill. This feature allows you to trigger the Fill in by pressing harder on the keys – frees your hand so you focus on playing.
